Julianna Bourne BScPsyc, BScPT, RCAMT, CAFCI (Acupuncture)

JuliannaJulianna is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Daemen College and has 10 years of clinical and teaching experience. She began her career in neurological and cardiac rehabilitation in an upstate New York hospital before relocating to Calgary in 1999. She has completed numerous recurrent training programs including acupuncture, manual and manipulative therapy, pre and post natal health and spinal stabilization. She has served as the physiotherapist for the men's national water polo team and enjoys working with all levels of athletes as well as common or overuse injuries.
Julianna's personal approach to diagnosis and treatment reflects her desire to return patients to full function at the earliest possible time whenever possible. To accomplish this she utilizes her learned techniques, clinical experience and the patient's own goals.
On her personal time Julianna likes to spend time with family activities, working out, and is an avid sports enthusiast. She was a competitive swimmer during her college days and several of her pool records at her alma mater still stand.

Carmen Chivilo BScPT, BScKin, GunnIMS, CHT (Hand Therapist), CAFCI (Acupuncture)

CarmenCarmen is a graduate of both the University of Calgary and Queen's University. She joins the Marda Loop Sport Physiotherapy Team with extensive professional experience from working in a variety of manual therapy and sports injury clinics. Carmen has completed many post graduate advanced Manual Therapy courses. Her special interest is in treating hand, wrist and upper extremity injuries. She has successfully passed her certification in Hand Therapy.
Carmen has also been involved in treatment and care of many athletes at the varsity and local level. Currently, she is the company physical therapist for the Alberta Ballet Company.
Carmen has an active approach to treatment, developed through education and her own personal experience in athletics. She believes in balance, both in her physical therapy practice and her own life. Outside the clinic she keeps active through volleyball and yoga and is never one to give up a chance to get outdoors to hike, mountain bike, or ski.

Nicole Hunter BSc., BSc. P.T., RCAMT, GunnIMS

NicoleNicole Hunter is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the University of British Columbia Rehabilitation Medicine Physiotherapy program. Nicole began her physiotherapy practice in Vancouver prior to moving to Calgary five years ago and settling in Marda Loop. Nicole draws from a wide range of physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue techniques, Intramuscular Stimulation (GunnIMS) and specific exercise prescription. She is a Resident of the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapists and has taken courses towards her diploma in Sports Physiotherapy. She treats a wide cross section of clients from children to seniors and Olympic athletes to weekend warriors. She is an avid skier, runner, hiker, mountain biker, swimmer and Ultimate player. Nicole's areas of special interest are treatment of the shoulder, knee and foot, spinal problems and pre/post natal stability programs.

Paul Hunter BSc. P.T., FCAMT, GunnIMSPaul Hunter

Paul is a graduate of the University of British Columbia Rehabilitation Medicine.  Paul began his physiotherapy practice in Vancouver prior to moving to Calgary and settling in Marda Loop.  Paul draws from a wide range of physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, McKenzie therapy (Part C), Intramuscular Stimulation and specific exercise prescription.  He has achieved the highest designation in Manual Therapy in that he has been awarded a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapists. He has also taken courses towards his diploma in Sports Physiotherapy, is a consultant to the Canadian Sports Centre and is the physiotherapist for the National Short Track Speed Skating team.   He treats a wide cross section of clients from children to seniors and Olympic athletes to weekend warriors. He is an avid snowboarder, cross country skier, mountain and road cyclist, swimmer and fly fisher.  Paul's areas of special interest are treatment of the shoulder, knee and spinal problems. 


Greg Redman BScPT, BScKin, RCAMT, Sport Physio Diploma, GunnIMS, CAFCI

GregGreg Redman is a graduate of both Queens University and Simon Fraser University. Greg is a manual therapy and sport physiotherapy specialist and has had success with many Olympic champions, international, national and weekend warriors. He has been the physiotherapist with the Canadian Olympic team at the Athens, Torino and Beijing Olympic Games. Greg is a consultant to the Canadian Sport Centre where he works with Track and Field, Wrestling, Skeleton, Luge, Diving and Swimming athletes. He is also the Head Physiotherapist for the Royal Canadian Golf Association. Other than treating sport related injuries Greg specializes in treating both acute and chronic spinal issues.
The range of treatment techniques that he has been trained in at a postgraduate level include manual therapy, manipulations, spinal stability, functional and sport specific exercises, taping, intramuscular stimulation and acupuncture. Greg has a special interest in developing interesting and innovative exercise programs for sport rehab and core stability.
Greg’s treatment philosophy is that every thing happens for a reason and so he searches for the cause of the problem, rather than a quick fix. Then, together with the patient he uses a range of treatment techniques and specific exercises to restore their body to its optimal health. Greg was a National team athlete with Canoe/Kayak for eight years and also recently completed the Ironman.

Somer Willson BScPT, RCAMT, GunnIMS, CAFCI (Acupuncture)

SomerSomer is a University of Alberta graduate but has enjoyed being back in Calgary since graduating. She has worked with athletes and a variety of other clients through the years. With the integration of various techniques; such as manual therapy, acupuncture and IMS, she works with a person to achieve their specific goals. A large part of her focus includes returning a person to function or sport but also in identifying causative factors in aims for future prevention. Whether it's a game of golf, training for a triathlon or hitting the ski hill, Somer enjoys staying active outside the clinic. Somer completed the Ironman in 2007.

 

Andrea Zelinka MScPT, CAFCI, STOTT Pilates
Andrea is a graduate of Queen's University as well as the University of Western Ontario. Andrea has returned to Calgary and is excited to join the Marda Loop Sport Physiotherapy team after working in Golden, BC for two years. During her time in Golden Andrea had extensive experience working with an active population of recreational and professional outdoor enthusiasts.
Andrea holds certifications in both acupuncture and manual therapy and is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor. Andrea includes pilates as an intergral part of her active treatment approach to spinal rehabilitation, postural retraining, running injuries and sport specific conditioning. 
Andrea has travelled with and provided treatment for National and Olympic level track and field athletes, and she also has extensive personal experience in athletics.
In her free time, Andrea likes to get out and enjoy running, pilates, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, climbing and whatever keeps her moving.

MarkMark Unger

Mark is ecstatic to have joined the Marda Loop Sport Physiotherapy team. His diverse experience in the Physiotherapy field and upbeat demeanor is sure to fit in well as he takes on the supporting role of the team physiotherapists. Extramurally Mark enjoys spending as much time as possible with friends and family. He is an avid rapier fighter, spending many weekends as possible pursuing this sport whether it be learning, teaching or competing.

 

 

Tiffany BeksTiffany Beks
Tiffany moved to Calgary in April of 2009 and is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She plans to further her studies in rehabilitation science. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys playing basketball, hiking, live music and theatre, and spending time with her friends and family.
